This review is from: Samsung Electronics SATA 1.5 Gb-s Optical Drive, Black SH-224DB/BEBE (Personal Computers) While this drive may be fine, it is NOT a Samsung drive, it is a TSST drive which stands for Toshiba Samsung Storage Technology, a joint venture between Toshiba and Samsung that is 51% owned by Toshiba. The drive does not say Samsung on the front as in the picture, and if you got to Samsung looking for updated firmware this product is not listed. You need to go to the TSST website to find any information on this drive, [...] , and much of the website doesn't even work. 0 This may not matter in long run, but if you are considering buying this drive because it is a Samsung product, be forewarned, it is not. Update: I have been using this drive for weekly backups for nearly a month, and have had no problems with it. I am disappointed that even after I pointed out to Amazon that the title, picture, and description they are using for this item is wrong, they have done nothing. Update: This drive just died after 8 months of ver y light use (burning a DVD once a week for backup). Getting customer service from TSST has proved impossible. Their website is a mess of broken links and pages under construction. Amazon still lists this as a Samsung drive although they have updated the image to the "no-name" drive that you will actually receive. I have requested a refund. I would not recommend this drive. I got home today and to my surprise amazon overnighted one of my orders (love prime)! Installed the new drive without issue, and I was off ripping my extensive cd collection (nowhere near done) to my pc. The drive is very quick, and almost silent. Another plus is that it gives off very little vibration, which is a big thumbs up for people with budget cases. My only complaint I have with this drive is that it doesn't say Samsung anywhere on it, or the oem shipping box. It was just wrapped in plastic, and tucked in the box with the rest of the PC parts I bought.
