5.0 out of 5 stars Great sleeping bag, very close to the quality we are used to have in Europe., November 25, 2011

This review is from: Woolino 4 Season Baby Sleep Bag, 100% Natural Merino Wool Sleep Sack, One Size 3mo-2yrs, Earth (Baby Product)
I was looking for a sleeping bag for my first daughter, she usually wears 2T size clothes. She is currently sleeping in a "polyester" sleeping bag that I sew for her, but I wanted something of a better quality, and that I could reuse for my second baby girl - so I don't mind paying more if the quality is there.
I cannot believe how hard it can be here in the usa to find a practical, comfortable sleeping bag for a baby, and for an acceptable (under ) price! So I went ahead and tried to look at the more expensive sleeping bags.
Unfortunately, this woolino sleeping bag turned to be too short for her. So I just put it aside. Yesterday, I decided to search for a sleeping bag for my second baby, who is now a week old and doesn't like to be swaddled (ah, I cannot reuse my miracle blanket!!).
I couldn't find one with all the criteria I wanted and that the woolino bag has:
SNAPS ON SHOULDERS for easy dressing,
SNAPS AT ARMPITS to adapt baby's size,
INVERTED ZIPPER - from down to top - so great for diaper changes!!!
and a BREATHABLE material suitable for a 65-68 degrees room during the night.
And I did not find any other - besides the merino kids bag ( that one is a little more expensive) - that would meet those criteria. So I decided to try the one I purchased on my newborn (8 lb 6oz and 22in) but was afraid it would be too big. But it fits her perfectly. Moreover, I can SHORTEN THE LENGTH of the bag by using the snaps provided, and it is perfect.

PROS:
NO OVERHEATING,
easy access for diaper changes,
easy to put baby in even if she is already asleep (just lay her on top and close all the snaps and zipper),
BREATHABLE AND NATURAL material, MACHINE WASHABLE,
FITS EVEN SOONER than 3months (of course, it depends on the size of your baby),
ONE SIZE so you don't have to buy several other bags as your baby grows.
(Ok, you can be doubtful as you touch th e fabric, the merino wool is soooo thin, but it really keeps your baby warm without overheating.)
Nice gender - neutral color.

CONS:
NONE for me! Some people could be disappointed with the choice of color and patterns. You shouldn't care how your baby looks during the night, but if she is comfy, right?

Other sleeping bags I looked at and why I didn't go for them:
Grobag: this one has met all my criteria mentioned above, but it doesnt have an inverted zipper. also, the polyester filling in the 2.5TOG is not that breathable as wool is.
Deedee sleeping bag: after reading the reviews (poorly made, shrinks after washing, too "tight" on baby) and seeing it is polyester filling, I said no.
Lullabag in bamboo fabric: not warm enough for the temperature we have at night in our room.

What I already have but am not satisfied with:
the cotton halo sleepsacks are just fine, but very thin - only for summer time in southern cal ifornia; the zzzipme sleeping bags from swaddle designs are also an acceptable choice but only because they have the two-way zipper - but they are fleece, it is really not breathable. And no shoulder snaps on those two, so you just struggle putting your baby in it if she is already asleep. Those are not "one size" bags so you have to buy more as baby grows.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this product, October 28, 2011

This review is from: Woolino 4 Season Baby Sleep Bag, 100% Natural Merino Wool Sleep Sack, One Size 3mo-2yrs, Earth (Baby Product)
I bought this for our 2 month old son who is really big for his age. The armhole snaps allow for a snug fit around his neck and I do not have to worry about any fabric going over his mouth or nose. Despite the fact that it is wool, the sleep sack is very soft. Our son is a heavy wetter who loves to kick his legs around when I change him in the middle of the night The zipper is, in my opinion perfectly placed to allow for convenient diaper changes without waking him. I can even sidle the whole sleep sack on and off of him without disturbing him much thanks to the shoulder snaps. Another added bonus of this sleep sack is that the absorbency of the wool keeps him and his bedding much drier at night if his diaper leaks.

For those of you who are comparison shopping, we also own the heavier weight merino kids sleep sack. The merino kids sleep sack does not have dual shoulder snaps and I find the woolino easier to get on and off, however... w oolino does not make a heavyweight sack if you want to keep the thermostat lower than 65 degrees at night.

We dress our son in a long sleeved cotton pyjama when he is in the woolino and we keep the temp at 67-68 degrees at night - this keeps him warm without overheating him.

As this is a wool product, it should be washed separately in cold water with wool detergent. It was accidentally washed in a hot load of wash once and it came out ok. I would not recommend doing that, but it does say something about the durability of this product.

FYI, for those who care, it is "made in China."

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Sleep Sack Ever!, June 18, 2013

After several months of use with my 1 year old daughter, I have decided that the Woolino is by far my FAVORITE piece of baby gear. I wanted a bag that could handle the fluctuating temperatures of Ohio all while keeping my daughter comfortable. This is the ONLY bag you'll ever need, from basically 60 degrees to 80 degrees. Plus the material is soft, light weight, made with quality workmanship, and is very easy to care for. Sure it's expensive, but you definitely get what you pay! My only regret is that I didn't purchase the Woolino sooner and wasted money on inferior infant bags of several different tog & sizes.
