I have not stopped listening to this cd since I got it. It is just song after good song. My personal favorites are "Here We Go," "The General," "Bang Bang" and "Drive." These guys can be compared to many different bands. The most obvious comparison would be to Guster, both have amazing vocals and great diverse drums. However, the General, is a very jammable song which leads to a mention of Phish the best jam band currently. The vocals and lyrics can even be compared to G Love. My friends have also told me that particular songs sound like reminiscent Sublime to them. I dunno about that one. What I do know is that this band is incredible. I am going to be upset when the radio plays their songs until I hate them. You must buy this cd. You will love it. Dispatch is described as a tri-vocal funk acoustic rhythem regae groove band or something like that. If you like Sublime, Ben Harper, Bob Marley, Dave Matthews you'll like Dispatch. You can put this cd in and listen to it the whole way through. There isn't a bad track on the entire album. I recommend buying all Dispatch's cds and checking them out live they rule. These guys were a great band and it would be sweet to seem them come back together again. I now own every Dispatch CD, but this one is like a greatest hits compilation, every tune is THAT good. They are the best indie rock band I've ever heard and likely the best I'll ever hear. "The General" makes me want karaoke, "Mission", "Here we go", "Bats in the Belfry" and "Whirlwind" are great rockers, while "Out Loud" and "Two Coins" are acoustic gems. "Bang bang" and Railway Station" are hypnotic and intelligent rap-like tunes. The only thing that I find confounding is how their stuff never made it to the airwaves, it's better than 99.9% of the stuff out there. As much as I like other Indie bands like O.A.R. and Guster, those bands just can't measure up to Dispatch. Check them out. 0 |
