3.0 out of 5 stars 100% honest review, November 26, 2012
= Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: NASCAR The Game: Inside Line - Playstation 3 (Video Game)
to start off ive have played NASCAR the game 2011 and tried to play it til this came out... Overall this game is just OK... Its miles better than last years but that shows how bad last years was... The graphic i feel are amazing on this game very realistic and sharp, i have zero problem with this... also in career mode they fixed it now so you can actually have multiple seasons driving and improving your cars performance.. i do feel it could still be much improved but its better than the season mode they gave us last year... it just makes me laugh cuz Nascar 04&06 have 100x better career modes and this is almost 8-10 yrs ago lol... but anyways it a step in the right direction... i dont play online or the challenges so i cant comment on these but if its like the rest of the game it pretty much the same... also FINALLY for offline split screen they have 43 CAR FIELDS!! thank you finally ive been waiting for this for like 15yrs now, and you can also qua lify and choose paint schemes on split screen...(much improved) but my biggest problem is the skill levels.. They are not very spot on... easy is WAY too easy and medium is pretty much the same as easy... then if you put it on hard it way too challenging so you cant win you can never get it just right... the game play still needs work, the cars still break check and stay in a line, which makes going from 43 to first possible in 3 laps... the plate track are a little better but still you can have ZERO drafting help and pass cars or have a 10 second lead which all nascar fans know, its not possible... so the big picture i still think its a horrible game, that still needs lots of work.. YES the graphic are phenomenal but the gameplay is still way off... still no dnf's and idk its still so arcadeish it needs some help big time...

So... if you like the previous title you will like this cuz it is an slight improvement... if you are and EA sport nascar person i say ski p this unless you find this at a reduced price... i would give it one star but anything could be better than last years game so they did fix some things so ill give them a break...

my advice dont buy it at full price, i might be worth it if it was about but otherwise pass

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent but not perfect, December 6, 2013
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: NASCAR The Game: Inside Line - Playstation 3 (Video Game)
I got this as a gift and being a Nascar fan and a game racing fan, I looked forward to giving this a try as I had yet to find anything that has match the game playability of the Papyrus efforts many years ago. Sadly, a lot of game makers have forgotten playability when it comes to Nascar style race games. My previous experience has been with Nascar 08 for the PS3 which I though was ok but a bit difficult to drive and the crashes so unrealistic and arcade-ish that it made me annoyed to play. Simply put, I want a simulation to play like the real thing with some bells and whistles to make it a great long term play. I can't say whether this is a step up from the previous years effort as I had no experience with that particular version but as compared to my experience with my previous racing games that I have played, the graphics are good especially when looking at the cars, although I thought there is definitely room for improvement with graphics and hopefully with the next consoles coming out, that will only get better.

The game play is much less difficult to play than my Nascar 08, in fact, maybe too easy, even in medium mode, which is what I started out with at Daytona and ended up with like a 20 second plus lead with no one pushing me. So in that respect, the levels need to be adjusted as well as the drafting style of racing which allowed me to pass easily as a single car over 2 car tandems.

I played this with my Logitech force feedback wheel and had no issues with using it, the track bumps felt real and the car bumps as well.

The sound is decent and fairly realistic sounding and the game gives you many gameplay options. I especially like the career mode and building up your racing team.

The playability is a bit of a letdown and the AI should be smarter and more individualized with the cars. Another personal grip of mine is that I would like to have the option to have an nouncers during the race to break up some of the boredom when you are racing lap after lap and have a big lead or behind a lot. Give me some details of what else is going on in the racing like in other sports games.

Is this game ok to play? yes it is ok, not outstanding as the gameplay issues keep it from being great but it is playable and better than most other nascar style games out there at the moment.

3.0 out of 5 stars Just about the same as last years..., August 4, 2013
= Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: NASCAR The Game: Inside Line - Playstation 3 (Video Game)
I'm thinking if they're (Activision) thinking of making another NASCAR game, they need to call it NASCAR Total Control Racing. If you played the 2011 game then I can tell you the only improvements that I've noticed is:

-When painting your car you have more sponsor options to choose from.
-Online play is smoother now, before it was an absolute nightmare.
-The new points system in on this game which means in season Career mode if you get behind, it takes forever to get caught back up because for the most part, the same drivers qualify & finish in the same positions in almost every race. Guess this couldn't really be called an improvement.

What I think they need to change:
-Make the AI drivers more diverse either that or give you the option of adjusting each car's competitiveness. In a lot of the races, the field just seems to run in one large pack, no matter what track your at.
-Incorporate "STATS" into the game . NASCAR is also a numbers sport not just a beat'em up go racing deal, I would like for the game to keep track of how many poles, races & championships I've won in my career. Right now all it doe's is tell you what championship your on.
-Except for the yellow stripe on your bumper in your first season in career mode, you don't know one year from the next.
-How about making it more like other sports games where you can create a driver & then interview for a ride in an existing Cup car, or how about being able to drive the car YOU painted in the career mode. This game doe's none of that.
-Just like in the 2011 game they added the 2013 cars later on in a DLC, but you have to download more stuff to be able to use the cars. Kind of a ripoff if you ask me. I mean they know everyone is gonna want to use the new cars, just a few more dollars in corporate gaming Inc's pockets.
-In the drive for diversity, how about being able to create a driver that looks like wha tever nationality you want & not just be represented by a flag.
-How about adding the Busch series in the next game, that way in career mode you start there & work your way up, then you could buy a Busch team & do what Kyle Busch doe's in real life...

In the end, this IMO is basically just an arcade racing game, not a realistic NASCAR sim. So much more could've been done that was left out. Maybe they'll get it right for the next installment.
