I had hoped these would be new transfers from High Definition masters but The Pelican Brief, The Client and A Time To Kill were all mastered in 1997 and A Runaway Jury in 2003. At least they are all anamorphic - "Enhanced for Widescreen TVs". Since Warner is releasing Blu-ray discs of The Pelican Brief and A Time to Kill, it would have been nice to have given us new transfers of these two at least. The price is right and all four discs are in thin-line cases, so they take little shelf space, but this release could have been better. 0 21 of 27 people found the following review helpful By Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: John Grisham Courtroom Collection (The Pelican Brief / The Client / A Time to Kill / Runaway Jury) (DVD) i have never been so disappointed in the quality of these movies. This is the year 2011 and to have to "flip" the dvd over to watch the second half is just plain stupid. It's too late for me to return these movies, but you can be sure they will go in the next garage/yard sale I have. Nowhere on the packaging or before I ordered did it say that I needed to "flip" the dvd during watching. 0 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful By Lynn G. This review is from: John Grisham Courtroom Collection (The Pelican Brief / The Client / A Time to Kill / Runaway Jury) (DVD) I had seen all of these movies before I purchased this DVD set. The price was extremely good--a little over for the set. My two favorite movies in this set are "Pelican Brief" with J. Roberts and D. Washington, and "Runaway Jury" with J. Cusack, G. Hackman, and D. Hoffman. The performances of these actors were wonderful, and of course the Grisham stories are full of plot twists and turns. Owning DVDs of great movies like these enables me to view them once or twice a year, so that when TV programming on the network channels is not to my liking (I do not have cable or satellite TV service), which is usually the case, I can pull out something from my DVD library. Even my local PBS channels, which have some great shows, rerun the shows fairly often, so I sometimes can't find anything I want to watch on PBS either. 0 My only complaint is that the DVD video quality of this set was not very good, but for and change, I can't complain too much. If hi gh quality DVD video is important to you, I'm sure other releases of these four movies can be found that have better quality video. In summary: Movie content: 5 stars DVD quality: 2 to 3 stars |
